Frequently Asked Questions

Is parent coaching and consultation right for my family?

Parent coaching and consultation may be a good fit if you:

  • Want to better understand your child's behavior and learn practical strategies you can use in everyday life.

  • Value ongoing support from someone who can answer questions, troubleshoot challenges, and adapt recommendations based on what's working for your family.

  • Are looking for support with challenges such as tantrums, power struggles, transitions, emotional regulation, bedtime routines, sibling conflict, communication, or other concerning behavior.

  • Want individualized guidance that fits your family's values, priorities, and goals.

  • Prefer a collaborative approach where we work together to problem-solve and build meaningful skills.

  • Are interested in behavior support but are not looking for intensive ABA services.

  • Are on a waitlist for ABA services and would like support in the meantime.

  • Want to feel more confident responding to challenging behaviors and supporting your child's development.

What ages do you work with?

My services are designed for families navigating the early years of parenting. If you're wondering whether parent coaching and consultation would be a good fit for your family, I'd be happy to answer your questions during a free consultation.

Do I need an autism diagnosis?

No. Parent coaching and consultation can benefit families navigating a wide range of behavioral and developmental challenges. While I have extensive experience supporting children diagnosed with autism, I also work with parents seeking practical, evidence-informed strategies for everyday parenting challenges.

Is this the same as ABA therapy?

No. Parent coaching and consultation is different from intensive ABA therapy. Rather than providing direct therapy to your child, I work with you to better understand your child's behavior, develop individualized strategies, and help you feel more confident supporting your child in everyday life.

Can parent coaching help while we're waiting for ABA services?

Yes. Parent coaching with a BCBA can be a valuable source of support while you're waiting for ABA services to begin. Together, we can work on understanding your child's behavior, developing practical strategies, and building meaningful skills so you don't have to wait to start getting support.

If your child begins ABA therapy, you're welcome to continue parent coaching alongside those services or end coaching whenever you feel it's no longer needed.

How often do we meet?

Every family is different. Some families benefit from weekly sessions, while others meet every other week, monthly, or as new challenges arise. Together, we'll decide on a schedule that best fits your family's needs and goals.

How long do families typically work with you?

There is no required commitment or set timeline. Some families reach out for support with a specific concern, while others choose ongoing coaching as their child grows and new challenges arise. We'll work together for as long as you feel the support is helpful.

Do you offer virtual or in-home sessions?

Services may be offered virtually or in person depending on your location and the type of support you're seeking. We'll discuss the best option for your family during your consultation.

What happens during a parent coaching session?

Sessions are collaborative and individualized. We'll discuss your current concerns, explore what's contributing to your child's behavior, review strategies you've tried, problem-solve together, and develop practical next steps that fit your family's everyday life. You'll also receive personalized resources and recommendations to support you between sessions.
